Woman arrested after allegedly swinging knives at another woman

A Pine Bluff woman was arrested Sunday night after she allegedly was seen swinging two knives at another woman and cursing her.

Sonya Miller, 46, was seen by police officers after they were called to an apartment at 1300 S. Plum St., at 9:30 p.m., Detective Jame Huff said in a probable cause affidavit.

During a court hearing Tuesday, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Miller apparently was under the influence of a controlled substance, and witnesses told police Miller had used crack cocaine a short time before the incident.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for Miller after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with aggravated assault.

Bridgforth also ordered Miller to have no contact with the alleged victim, and told her to come back to court July 9.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Miller.
