A Pine Bluff woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the eye with a key Tuesday, after she allegedly tried to spray him with pepper spray and brandished a knife that he took away.
Lakoiya Diggs, 29, allegedly argued with the boyfriend about their child, Deputy Prosecutor Cymber Gieringer said during a court hearing for Diggs on Thursday.
Detective Jeremy Funderburg said in a probable cause affidavit that the boyfriend didn’t want Diggs to take the child and Diggs allegedly pulled out a knife that the boyfriend took away and threw into a bedroom.
Gieringer said Diggs then tried to spray pepper spray at the boyfriend, and when he tried to take the spray container from her, Diggs stabbed him in the eye with a key.
Funderburg said in the affidavit that Diggs denied threatening the man with the knife, but admitted stabbing him with the key.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $5,000 bond for Diggs after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault on a family or household member.
Kearney also ordered Diggs to have no contact with the boyfriend until the case is settled.
The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Diggs.
