Two injured in Saturday accident

One person was seriously injured and a second received minor injuries following a two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on Princeton Pike.

Sheriff’s Office Major Lafayette Woods Jr. said deputies were dispatched at anpit 6:08 p.m. to the accident at Claud Road and Princeton Pike.

Jeremy Brown, no age listed, told deputies he was traveling west on Princeton Pike in a 2008 Chevrolet SUV when the driver of a silver Ford Focus, later identified as Gregory Cleveland, no age listed, disregarded a stop sign and hit the passenger side of Brown’s SUV.

Brown’s vehicle struck a utility pole and fence, and Cleveland’s vehicle struck the same fence.

Following the collision, both vehicles came to rest near the south side of Princeton Pike.

Woods said a passenger in Brown’s vehicle, Edward Bennett, was trapped between the door and frame of the SUV after the vehicle flipped over on its side following impact. Bennett was freed from the vehicle and was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, while Cleveland was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital at Little Rock where his condition was unknown Monday afternoon.

No traffic citations have been issued because the accident is still under investigation by sheriff’s deputies.
