Two Pine Bluff men who are on probation were arrested Wednesday after a gun was found in the room where they were during a drug related search.
Daniel Benton, 23, and Willie Chambers, 20, were taken into custody after police vice and narcotics officers and agents of the Tri-County Drug Task Force served a search warrant at a house in the 700 block of West 15th Avenue at 11:31 a.m.
Detective Kenneth Evans reported that eight people were detained inside the house and in a vehicle that was parked in the yard while the search was conducted.
Evans reported that investigators found a .38-caliber Colt Special loaded with six rounds in a bedroom where Benton and Chambers had been when the house was entered.
In addition to both men being on probation, investigators also found that a petition to revoke Chambers’ probation had been filed.
A misdemeanor amount of marijuana was found inside the house, police reported.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Benton and for Chambers after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge them with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Both men were told to come back to court Feb. 1.
