Two arrested in alleged apartment burglary

Two people, including a juvenile, were arrested Thursday during a police investigation into an alleged burglary at an apartment on the east side of Pine Bluff.

Eric Shephard, 18, and at least one other person entered an apartment in the 4600 block of South Main Street and took items including televisions and an Xbox video game system, Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Jerry Lambert said in a probable-cause affidavit presented in court Friday.

Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said a witness identified Shephard and the juvenile and told police they had taken the stolen items to an apartment in a nearby complex. Reed said that after police were given permission to search that apartment, the televisions were located.

Lambert said in the affidavit that the investigation into the incident is continuing and additional arrests are possible.

Jefferson County Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for Shephard after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with residential burglary and theft of property.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Shephard,
