Three people were killed Sunday in a one-vehicle accident in Ashley County.
A preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police identified the victims as Earl Turner, 33, of Warren, D’Angelo Mitchell, 16, of Monroe, La., and Gregory Mitchell, 44, also of Warren.
Cpl. Morris Knight reported that D’Angelo Mitchell was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup south on Arkansas Highway 133 at 5 a.m. when the truck ran off the left side of the highway, struck a driveway embankment, then went airborne and struck a large tree.
All three occupants of the truck were pronounced dead at the scene by Ashley County Coroner Steve Hartshorn.
Cpl. Knight reported that the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time of the accident.
The three deaths bring to 47 the number of people who have been killed on Arkansas highways so far this year.
