Suspect in January armed disturbance arrested Monday

A Pine Bluff man was arrested Monday after a lengthy investigation into a reported armed disturbance in the 300 block of West 20th Avenue.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Wednesday that Brandon Lasley, 19, allegedly pointed a gun at another person and threatened to kill them.

Detective Steven Rucker said in a probable-cause affidavit that the alleged incident occurred Jan. 7, and followed a reported altercation between Lasley and the alleged victim.

Jefferson County Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $25,000 bond for Lasley, who Kizer said had no prior convictions or pending charges, after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault.

Bridgforth also ordered Lasley to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled, and told him to come back to court June 26.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Lasley.
