A Pine Bluff man was arrested Monday after he was identified as a suspect in an April 4 apartment burglary.
Travis Scales, 26, allegedly broke into an apartment in the 4200 block of Camden Road, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing for Scales Wednesday.
Police Detective Jeremy Funderburg said in a probable-cause affidavit that officers obtained video surveillance tape from the apartment complex that showed a person matching Scales’ physical description approaching the door of the apartment, then leaving carrying an object.
Kizer said police were also able to identify a vehicle from the security video and that the vehicle matched one Scales admitted was his.
Funderburg said in the affidavit that the front door of the apartment was damaged when police arrived, and the apartment occupant said a laptop computer and other items were missing.
When Scales was interviewed, he denied any knowledge of the burglary, Funderburg reported.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Scales after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with residential burglary and theft of property.
Kearney appointed the Public Defender’s Office to represent Scales, and told him to come back to court May 22.
