Suspect in alleged stabbing, kidnapping caught

A Jefferson County man who was accused of stabbing and then kidnapping a woman after a reported disturbance Monday was arrested Monday night.

Sheriff’s Office Major Lafayette Woods Jr. said Larry Eugene Rucker Jr., 33, was taken into custody at about 8:40 p.m. at 9102 Shannon Road, the same location where the reported disturbance occurred.

Rucker was accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Kristie Davidson, then stabbing another woman, Sherry Davis, who tried to intervene.

Woods said Davis was stabbed multiple times, then forced into a vehicle by Rucker, who drove into Grant County before Davis was able to jump out and go to a nearby house where Grant County Sheriff’s deputies were called, along with an ambulance.

Davis was brought back to Jefferson County by ambulance and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center where she underwent surgery and was in the intensive care unit Monday night.

Woods said deputies found Rucker’s vehicle burned behind a house on Jed Road at about 1 p.m. The house belonged to Rucker’s brother.

Rucker is being held at the county detention center without bond on probable cause of first-degree battery and kidnapping pending an expected appearance Wednesday morning in Jefferson County District Court.
