A student at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly raped another student in his dorm room.
Jonathan Presswood, 20, allegedly invited the female student to his room, then had sex with her against her will, University Police Sgt. Arthur Rodgers said during a court hearing Friday.
Rodgers said the alleged victim came to the school’s Police Department on Thursday to report the incident, and was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for an examination.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $50,000 bond for Presswood after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with rape.
Kearney also ordered Presswood to have no contact with the alleged victim, and told him to come back to court June 14.
Presswood said he would hire his own attorney.
