Storm blamed for traffic fatality


Tornadic storms with high winds are being blamed FOR a one-vehicle traffic accident in Grant County Thursday night that killed a Prattsville man.

Daniel Earnest, 32, was killed when trees fell across state Highway 291 on top of the 2001 Kia Optima he was driving north of Tull in Grant County, authorities said.

State Police Cpl. Ryan Jacks said in a preliminary report that the roadway was obstructed by fallen trees, and there was heavy rain and wind when the accident was reported at 9:43 p.m.

The death was the 187th reported so far this year on the state’s highways.
