Store clerk arrested after allegedly replacing money with counterfeit in register

A Pine Bluff grocery store employee was arrested Monday after she allegedly took money from the cash register and replaced it with counterfeit bills.

Jasmine Nation, 21, who worked at Save A Lot on West 6th Avenue, allegedly took $200 from her register on April 23 and $300 on April 30, Detective Sam Atkinson said in a probable cause affidavit.

Nation allegedly placed counterfeit money in the register on both occasions. Store management provided police with video of the transactions.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $2,500 bond for Nation after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with felony forgery and misdemeanor theft of property.

Nation said she would hire her own attorney and was told to come back to court June 19.
