A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy who stopped a vehicle for a traffic offense Sunday arrested the driver after alleged controlled substances were found in the vehicle.
Tri-County Drug Task Force Investigator Chris Drye said in a probable cause affidavit that Deputy David Walker arrested Thomas Howard, 22, of Redfield after finding a container with Codeine and Oxycodone in the vehicle.
Drye said Walker stopped the vehicle at about 4 p.m. at Dollarway Road and Spears Street after seeing it cross the center line, and Howard gave Walker consent to search the vehicle.
Six white pills that were identified as Codeine and one white pill identified as Oxycodone were found in the container, and Drye said in the affidavit both were controlled substances.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $2,500 bond for Howard after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Howard was told to come back to court May 13.
