A Sheridan man was killed Saturday when he stepped out into the roadway on Interstate 30 and was struck by two vehicles, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.
Jimmy Lunsford, 35, was walking westbound near the 93 mile marker when he stepped out into the roadway and was struck by a 2011 Ford, driven by Wayne Harlan of Lancaster, Texas, the ASP report said.
A second vehicle, a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Bruce Koons of Knox, Tenn., also struck Lunsford while he was lying in the roadway.
The accident was reported at 3 a.m. in Hot Spring County, according to the report from Trooper First Class Christopher Harper.
The death was the 53rd so far this year on the state’s highways.
