Reported domestic disturbance Tuesday results in man’s arrest

A Pine Bluff man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly beat up his girlfriend, according to a probable cause affidavit presented in district court Thursday.

Mack Belcher, 46, who was convicted of third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor, on Jan. 17, can now be charged with a second offense, a felony.

The affidavit from Detective Sam Atkinson of the Pine Bluff Police Department said officers were sent to the 1600 block of West 30th Avenue, where the female victim said Belcher beat her up. Officers reported seeing a small cut on the left side of the woman’s neck and red marks on her wrists and forearms.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for Belcher on the felony allegation, and told him to come back to court March 14.

The judge also ordered Belcher, who said he would hire his own attorney, to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
