Reported armed disturbance leads to arrest


A reported armed disturbance at an apartment complex in southwest Pine Bluff early Friday morning resulted in the arrest of a man who allegedly pointed a gun at several people.

Police reported that Brandon Freeman, 21, struggled with officers trying to arrest him and they had to use a Tazer to subdue him.

Freeman also reportedly had a bag containing marijuana when he was arrested, vice and narcotics Detective April Tirado reported in a probable cause affidavit.

Tirado reported that police were sent to an apartment at 3204 Old Warren Road at 6 a.m., where a female victim said Freeman, who was her boyfriend, had come over He reportedly pulled out a bag of marijuana and a lottery ticket, then pulled out a gun and said he was “going to give it to them,” the woman said.

Freeman reportedly pointed the gun at the woman and at two other people and they were able to get out and call police.

Tirado reported that the woman said Freeman “had been talking to people who weren’t there,” and he was not interviewed because he “appeared to be high.”

Pine Bluff District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $50,000 bond for Freeman after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with possession of a controlled substance and with three counts of aggravated assault.

Bridgforth also ordered Freeman to have no contact with any of the alleged victims, and told him to come back to court Jan. 14.
