Police continue investigation into shooting outside mall

Pine Bluff police are continuing their investigation into a shooting that occurred Saturday night outside The Pines mall, but no suspects have been identified.

Police spokeswoman Regina VonTungeln said Jimmie Singleton, 17, was shot as he was standing in the median between the Holiday Inn Express and Sears at about 11 p.m.

Singleton was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center by ambulance and was treated for what police described as a “non-life threatening wound.”

Detective Jeremy Funderburg said he spoke to a witness who was with Singleton at the time, and according to the witness, an unknown black male got out of the passenger side of an older model black Dodge Charger and started shooting at them.

The witness said he and Singleton began to run southeast and the occupants of the car began to chase them before Singleton was shot.

VonTungeln said in a news release that no shell casings were recovered at the scene.
