Police arrest woman after finding suspected marijuana plants growing

Pine Bluff police responding to a reported alarm Saturday found suspected marijuana plants growing and arrested a woman who said she lived in the residence.

Karyas White, 22, told police she had lived at the residence with her boyfriend for about a year, but refused to answer any other questions about the suspected marijuana, Vice and Narcotics Detective April Tirado said in a probable -cause affidavit presented in district court Monday.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said police were sent to the alarm in the 800 block of West 29th Avenue at 7:30 a.m., and while checking security at the rear of the residence, found the suspected marijuana plants.

Tirado said in the affidavit there were eight leafy plants in pots that she identified as marijuana.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $2,500 bond for White, who Kizer said had no prior convictions or pending charges, after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with manufacturing a controlled substance.

White said she would hire her own attorney and was told to come back to court Sept. 8.
