Police arrest one on drug charges after serving search warrant

More than two ounces of marijuana were seized Wednesday when a search warrant was served at a house on the west side of Pine Bluff and an occupant of the house was arrested on felony drug charges.

Vice and Narcotics Detective Richard McCorvy reported that Kendrick Brown, 24, was one of seven people detained when agents of the Tri-County Drug Task Force and police vice and narcotics officers served a warrant at 1501 S. Lee St. at 12:38 p.m.

McCorvy reported that investigators found four plastic bags containing suspected marijuana as well as a set of digital scales and a box of sandwich bags. They also found documents with Brown’s name on them.

One of the other people who were detained while the search was conducted was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant while the remainder were released.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Brown after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition to the latest allegation, prosecutors’ records showed that Brown has pending drug related charges stemming from an arrest earlier this year.

Brown said he would hire his own attorney and was told to come back to court Feb. 1.
