Police arrest man on sexual assault allegation

A Pine Bluff woman’s report to police that her former boyfriend had touched her inappropriately resulted in the man’s arrest on a sexual assault allegation.

Clevan Johnson, 24, allegedly went to the woman’s apartment where the incident took place, Detective Marsha Oliver said in a probable cause affidavit.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Harris fled after the incident, which was initially called in as a disturbance Saturday night, and was arrested later.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $25,000 bond for Johnson, who Kizer said had no prior convictions or pending charges, after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with fourth-degree sexual assault.

Johnson also was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled, and told to come back to court May 29.

He said he would hire his own attorney.
