A Pine Bluff man was killed in a two-vehicle traffic accident on U.S. 270 Tuesday morning, and a second person was injured.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victim as Jeffery Robinson, 29.
Kelley pronounced Robinson dead at 11 a.m. and listed the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma.
According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Robinson was eastbound on the highway when he lost control of the 2004 Honda Civic he was driving and the vehicle crossed into the westbound lane, striking a 1995 Nissan Altima driven by Charles W. Williams, 74, of Hot Springs.
State Police Cpl. Carl Dunn said in the preliminary report that Williams was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
It was raining and the roadway was wet when the accident was reported at 10:25 a.m.
The death was the 297th reported so far this year on the state’s highways.
