A 12-year-old boy was reportedly beaten by a member of his family Saturday afternoon, according to a probable cause affidavit from police Sgt. Billy Dixon that was presented in court Monday during a hearing for the man who allegedly assaulted the child, Anthony Jefferson, 39.
Dixon reported that the boy was interviewed at home*** and said Jefferson choked him and threw him to the ground. Officers reported that there were injuries to the left side of the boy’s neck.
Three people who were at the scene told police they saw Jefferson throw the boy down and choke him.
Dixon reported that officers did not interview Jefferson after he was arrested because he was intoxicated.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $10,000 bond for Jefferson after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with second-degree battery.
Bridgforth also told Jefferson to have no contact with the alleged victim and told him to come back to court Jan. 14.
