PB man sentenced in child porn case

A Pine Bluff man who was convicted of distribution of child pornography in 2003 was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday after a second conviction for the same offense.

William Jennings Bryant Axsom II, 67, was arrested in 2010 after FBI agents and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at Axsom’s house in Pine Bluff, and seized numerous computers and other types of media. A forensic examination of the computers revealed more than 250 images of child pornography.

Axsom had been convicted on child pornography charges in 2003 and was sentenced to 30 months in prison. He was released in 2005 and competed the terms of his probation in 2008.

The case was filed in federal court through Project Safe Neighborhoods, a 2006 Justice Department initiative aimed at combating the proliferation of technology facilitated sexual exploitation crimes against children.

Following his prison sentence, Axsom will be placed on federal supervised probation for life.
