PB Man arrested on sexual assault allegation

A 27-year-old Pine Bluff man was arrested Friday after he allegedly admitted making improper advances to a teenager.

Maurice Adams told an investigator from the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children and Families unit that he had taken the girl’s pants off and had looked at her vagina, Police Detective Jacqueline Stevenson said in a probable cause affidavit.

Stevenson reported that officers were sent to an address in the western part of the city to assist the Department of Human Services with removal a child, and while there. Adams admitted his actions while the officers were there, Stevenson said.

Adams said he had been doing the same thing for about two years, Stevenson reported.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Adams after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with second-degree sexual assault.

Kearney also ordered Adams, who said he would hire his own attorney, to have no contact with the alleged victim and told him to come back to court March 25.
