A Pine Bluff man was placed under arrest Thursday morning after officers responded to a reported possible sexual assault at a residence in the 2800 block of N. Hutchinson St.
Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Jerry Lambert said in a probable-cause affidavit that Anthony Freeman, 19, stood accused of fondling a minor female relative early Thursday morning. Lambert said officers spoke to the mother of the juvenile victim who allegedly said that the child ran into her bedroom in tears and told her what Freeman had done to her. Lambert said the woman then dialed 911. When officers arrived Freeman was placed under arrest.
On Friday, Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $50,000 bond for Freeman after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with fourth-degree sexual assault.
Freeman was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled and was told to report back to court Aug. 28.
The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Freeman.
