A man was taken by ambulance to the hospital with injuries Wednesday after he lost control of his vehicle and struck some trees near U.S. 79 South and Robinson Road.
Matthew McClain, 19, was driving a black Chevrolet S-14 south on U.S. 79 when the accident occurred at 7:33 p.m., according to the report on the accident by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
As McClain approached the turn onto Robinson Road, a car was at the stop sign on Robinson Road, waiting to turn out onto U.S. 79. Another vehicle was driving north on U.S. 79. McClain told the deputy he turned quickly to avoid waiting on oncoming traffic and accidentally drove off the right side of the road.
The vehicle jumped the ditch and hit some trees, according to the report. There was about $2,000 in damage to the front of the vehicle.
McClain was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. The extent of his injuries was not detailed in the report.
