A Rison man was killed and three other people were injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident Monday night in Cleveland County.
A preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police said Scott Lunsford, 48, of Rison, was westbound on Arkansas Highway 114 when the 2004 Lexus he was driving crossed the center line and struck head-on a 2010 Dodge Ram, driven by Cynthia Reed, 46, also of Rison, that was eastbound on the highway.
Reed and two passengers in her vehicle, Rex Richardson, 75, and Louise Richardson, 73, both of Rison, were injured and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center at Pine Bluff and University Medical Center at Little Rock for treatment.
The accident was reported at 6:40 p.m., 1.5 miles west of U.S. 63.
Trooper Greg Rowland reported that Reed and both the Richardsons were wearing seat belts while Lunsford was not.
The death was the 31st so far this year on the state’s highways.
