Man on parole arrested on gun allegation

A Pine Bluff man who is currently on parole will have to post a $20,000 bond to be released from the county detention center after police found a handgun in a house where the man was staying.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond for Raye Gonder, 38, after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Gonder with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Gonder was arrested Wednesday after police served a search warrant and found a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun inside the house.

Detective Richard McCorvy reported that officers also found documents with Gonder’s name on them in the house and in a vehicle parked outside.

Kizer said officers also found .40-caliber bullets in the vehicle, a black Chevrolet Tahoe.

Gonder said he would hire his own attorney and was told to come back to court April 12.
