Man arrested after reported armed disturbance Friday

Police responding to a reported armed disturbance Friday arrested a man who reportedly pointed a gun at another man.

Lorenza Porter, 43, also reportedly hit the other man, Rikki Smith, in the face with the gun, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Monday for Porter.

Detective Steven Rucker reported Smith and Porter had been involved in an altercation when Porter pointed a gun at him.

Kizer said police recovered a .40-caliber handgun and four shotguns, one of them with the serial number defaced, and one of the guns had been reported as stolen. Also, Porter had a prior conviction for robbery and should not have had a gun, Kizer said.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Porter after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault, possession of a defaced firearm, theft by receiving and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Kearney also ordered Porter to have no contact with Smith until the case is settled and told him to come back to court Dec. 17.

Porter said he would hire his own attorney.
