Man accused of failing to register as sex offender

A Pine Bluff man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly failed to register as a sex offender, according to a probable cause affidavit from police Detective Bill Wiegand.

Anthony Freeman, 45, was convicted of second-degree sexual assault involving a minor female and sentenced to five years probation in 2012, and a condition of that probation required that he register as a sex offender.

The affidavit from Wiegand said Freeman had not registered as required by law since April 23, 2012, and also failed to notify probation officers of a change of address. He was sent a delinquency notice on Nov. 19, and as of Jan. 30, had not registered, Wiegand said.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for Freeman and told him to come back to court March 14.

Freeman said he would hire his own attorney.
