Hit-and-run report leads to woman’s arrest

An investigation into a reported hit-and-run accident Wednesday afternoon resulted in the arrest of a woman who allegedly ran into a car driven by her former boyfriend.

Lashonda Johnson, 21, claimed that the man, Calvin Hill Jr., drove his car in front of hers, Detective Jerry Lambert said in a probable cause affidavit. Johnson later admitted running into the car driven by Hill.

Lambert said the accident was reported at 1:02 p.m. at Ninth Avenue and Peach Street, When officers arrived on scene, Lambert reported, they were met by Hill and Johnson.

Hill said he was traveling north on Juniper Street when Johnson struck the vehicle he was driving in the rear end, and said Johnson also knew that vehicle belonged to his new girlfriend, whom he had started dating after he and Johnson broke up.

Lambert said Hill also claimed that Johnson had tried to run over him several times but he was able to get away from her.

Johnson said she and Hill had gotten into an argument and that “he hit her in the mouth,”Lambert reported.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Johnson after ruling Friday that prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with aggravated assault and criminal mischief.

Kearney also ordered Johnson to have no contact with Hill until the case is settled and told her to come back to court March 15.

Johnson said she would hire her own attorney.
