Damage to vehicles leads to arrest

A report that multiple vehicles had been damaged Friday resulted in the arrest of a man who was allegedly driving another vehicle that struck the others after a verbal altercation.

Police reported that David Slimp, 29, left the scene after the incident and was intoxicated when he was found later, Detective James Williams said in a probable cause affidavit presented in court Monday.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said police were sent to the 2800 block of North Belair Drive where there had been a fish fry and Kizer said “alcohol was present” at the time.

Slimp and another person allegedly got into an alteration and Slimp reportedly drove a Dodge Ram pickup across the yard of the house, striking two parked vehicles.

Williams reported that when Slimp was located, he had no visible injuries as a result of the incident.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for Slimp after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with first-degree criminal mischief.

Bridgforth appointed the Public Defender’s Office to represent Slimp and told him to come back to court Dec. 10.
