Convicted felon arrested for alleged gun possession

Officers with the Pine Bluff Police Department responding to a 911 call from a residence Sunday arrested a man for allegedly possessing a gun despite being a convicted felon.

PBPD Detective Mike Sweeney said in a probable cause affidavit that officers responded to the residence in the 1900 block of Starlight around 9 a.m. Sunday and were told by a woman that her son Tyrone Dancy, 21, told her that he was hearing voices and then pulled a handgun from a bag he had brought with him to his parent’s house that morning.

Sweeney said that officers determined that Dancy was a convicted felon and then took him into custody.

On Tuesday, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgeforth set a bond of $50,000 for Dancy after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Dancy, who was told to report back to court Aug. 23.
