Convicted felon accused of having gun

A $10,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man who is on probation after police allegedly found a gun inside the vehicle he was in.

Rodney White, 22, told police he did not know whom the gun belonged to before asking for an attorney, Detective Sam Atkinson said in a probable cause affidavit.

Atkinson reported that White was arrested after officers made a traffic stop at Sixth Avenue and Main Street on Wednesday afternoon.

The affidavit indicated that officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and that when White and the driver were taken out, a 9 mm handgun was found just under the front passenger seat where White was sitting.

Records at the prosecutor’s office indicated that White is on probation on charges of breaking or entering.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge White with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

White was told to come back to court March 29.
