Burglary in progress call leads to arrest Saturday

A reported burglary in progress at a house in central Pine Bluff Saturday morning resulted in the arrest of a man found hiding in a closet.

Shahied Jones, 21, allegedly entered a house in the 1400 block of West 26th Avenue twice through a side door, and then brought a second person with him the third time, Detective Larry Gailey reported.

A neighbor who saw the activity called police and an officer saw Jones run back into the abandoned house while a second suspect ran and was not caught.

Gailey reported that after other officers arrived, they went in the house and found Jones hiding under some clothes.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Jones Monday after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with residential burglary.

Kearney told Jones to come back to court Jan. 28.
