Burglary investigation leads to arrest

An investigation into a reported burglary on the east side of Pine Bluff last week resulted in the arrest of a man who was allegedly seen behind the house by a neighbor.

Joshua Lewis, 25, was identified from a photograph the neighbor took with a cell phone, Detective Steve Rucker said in a probable cause affidavit.

Rucker reported that the burglary took place Feb. 12 and the neighbor heard a dog bark, looked out a window, and saw Lewis in the back yard of the house.

Video evidence showed Lewis “pacing in the back yard” and also showed a second man, who has not been located, coming out of the back door, Rucker said.

Nothing was reported missing from the house, according to Rucker.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $10,000 bond for Lewis on Friday after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with breaking or entering.

Bridgforth also ordered Lewis to have no contact with residents of the house, and told him to come back to court April 5.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
