Bond set in alleged family assault

A $10,000 bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff woman who allegedly threatened two minor children with a knife.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Ruthie Cabine, 42, with aggravated assault on a family or household member.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said police were sent to an apartment Sunday in the 4300 block of Union Street where two juvenile females said they had been involved in an altercation with Cabine.

Detective Marsha Oliver said in a probable cause affidavit that the girls told police Cabine had pulled a knife and threatened one or both of them with injury.

Kizer said prosecutors will also seek two misdemeanor charges of third-degree domestic battery against Cabine.

In addition to setting the bond, Kearney ordered Cabine to have no contact with either of the alleged victims until the case is settled.

Cabine said she would hire her own attorney and was told to come back to court May 21.
