Bond set in alleged assault

A $2,500 bond was set Monday for a man who allegedly threatened another man at the Pines Mall on Saturday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge William Young, 18, with aggravated assault.

Detective Jacqueline Stevenson said in a probable-cause affidavit that Young and another person got into a verbal altercation and Young allegedly punched the man in the face, then pulled a knife and threatened to stab the man and kill his family.

A witness allegedly saw Young pull a knife and swing it at the man, who walked away after telling Young he had already called police.

In addition to setting the bond, Kearney ordered Young to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.

Young said he would hire his own attorney.
