Bond set in alleged assault

A $10,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man who allegedly pointed a gun at his girlfriend early Sunday morning.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge Marcus Jefferson, 29, with aggravated assault.

Police were sent to an apartment in the 2000 block of Woodgate Lane at 1:46 a.m., where the alleged victim said Jefferson had pulled a gun out of a closet, then out of its holster and pointed it at her, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said.

Jefferson also allegedly “mumbled something” and the alleged victim said the incident occurred in front of her 9-year-old daughter.

Detective Jacqueline Stevenson said in a probable cause affidavit that the gun was found in Jefferson’s truck and that he was “too intoxicated to be interviewed.”

In addition to setting the bond, Bridgforth ordered Jefferson to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.

Jefferson said he would hire his own attorney.
