A $25,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man who allegedly threw bleach on a police officer who had responded to a reported disturbance Sunday.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge James Watkins, 51, with aggravated assault on a police officer.
Detective Larry Gailey said in a probable-cause affidavit that officers were sent to an apartment in the 2200 block of East Seventh Avenue at about 6 p.m. Sunday in response to a reported disturbance.
Gailey said in the affidavit that Officer Ryan Moheb met with Watkins’ wife, who said he had “taken over the apartment” and poured bleach all over the ground and on the windows.
Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Watkins allegedly threw bleach out a broken window of the door, narrowly missing Moheb’s face and hitting his uniform.
Watkins was forcibly removed from the courtroom Monday morning after he refused to be quiet.
