A Thursday-night house fire in a vacant residence at 1517 W. 17th Ave. has been determined to be an arson, according to Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Department spokesman Lt. Harold Clark.
“When fire crews arrived on scene shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday night, flames were showing and the blaze was extinguished within 20 minutes,” Clark said. “Damage was contained to the living room and the front porch areas of the structure.”
Clark said that while the residence was vacant at the time of the fire, a family was preparing to move into it.
“The fire marshal was called to the scene and determined that it was arson-related and the investigation is ongoing,” Clark said.
Anyone with information pertaining to the fire is asked to call 730-2048 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or 730-2086 after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
“Callers do not have to give their name and can remain anonymous,” Clark said. “If information leads to an arrest and conviction, there is a $2,500 reward available.”
