Altheimer man killed in Friday accident, woman injured

An Altheimer man was killed Friday morning in a traffic accident at Altheimer.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victim as Clifton Eason, 48, who was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Kim Phillips at 2:27 a.m. The cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma.

Sheriff’s Department Major Lafayette Woods Jr. said deputies were sent to the 1000 block of Blue Rock Road at 1:07 a.m. in response to a reported one-vehicle accident.

Deputy Rick Conyers reported that the car driven by Eason was accelerating through a curve when Eason lost control of the 2000 Oldsmobile he was driving and the car flipped over several times, ejecting Eason. The vehicle ran over him.

A passenger in the car, Jacqueline Cole, 18, received minor injuries, Woods said.

Eason was not wearing a seat belt, Woods said.
