An officer with the Pine Bluff Police Department arrested a man Wednesday in connection with a Sunday incident in which he allegedly pointed a gun in the direction of a woman.
PBPD Detective James Huff said in a probable cause affidavit that Glen Sledge, 49, had been asked to leave a gathering at a residence in the 4200 block of West Hepburn Street on Sunday afternoon because he was allegedly being disrespectful to people. Huff said the victim told officers that after she asked Sledge to leave he got into his car and as he was leaving allegedly pointed a handgun in her direction. The victim said she got on the ground and Sledge drove off.
Huff said that on Wednesday an officer saw a car in the 3500 block of West Hepburn Street that matched the description of Sledge’s vehicle given by the victim. The officer pulled the car over and took Sledge into custody.
Sledge was later determined to be a convicted felon.
On Thursday, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $$50,000 bond for Sledge after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Sledge was ordered to have no contact with the victim and was told to return to court Aug. 27.
The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Sledge.
