Alleged altercation leads to gun arrest Sunday

An alleged disturbance Sunday in the 1000 block of East Sixth Avenue resulted in the arrest of a convicted felon who allegedly had a gun.

Kedrick Johnson, 30, allegedly pulled out the gun while he and another person were involved in an altercation, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Monday for Johnson.

Detective Jacqueline Stevenson said in a probable-cause affidavit that a relative of Johnson’s told officers she had seen the gun on the ground and that Johnson allegedly took the weapon and hid it before police arrived.

Records at the prosecutor’s office indicated that Johnson has felony convictions dating from 2000 and is on parole.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Johnson after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Johnson said he would hire his own attorney and was told to come back to court May 20.
