GOULD — A Pine Bluff man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Gould on Thursday.
Terry Davis, 46, was pronounced dead at about 2 p.m. by Lincoln County Coroner Jimmy Hawkins.
State Trooper Clayton McWilliams said Davis was heading north on U.S. 65 at about 1:15 p.m. in a “Precision Alarm” Ford van when he turned right into the Landmark Baptist Church parking lot and turned around.
Davis then headed back onto the highway but failed to stop and was hit broadside by an International truck and trailer. Davis was killed instantly, McWilliams said.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, Quinton Warren, age unavailable, of Mississippi, was not hurt but went to the hospital for an examination, McWilliams said.
Both vehicles were knocked onto the west side of the highway where they came to stop in front of grain silos. McWilliams said the cab of the truck “jackknifed” into the trailer. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
McWilliams said both drivers were wearing seatbelts and the airbag deployed in the van but not the truck.
The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
