WH man faces battery charges

Police responding to a call from a residence on Hazelwood Road in White Hall Sunday were told by a woman at the residence that her husband had beaten her at the Horizon Inn in Pine Bluff earlier that day.

Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Bill Wiegand reported that Johnny Lee, 28, was arrested Monday after officers on Sunday observed that his wife had a bruise under her left eye, on her left arm and on her right elbow.

During a court hearing Wednesday Pine Bluff District Judge John L. Kearney set a $50,000 bond for Lee after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with third degree domestic battery (second offense).

Kearney appointed the Public Defender’s Office to represent Lee, told him to have no contact with the alleged victim, and to come back to court Aug. 22.
