Police investigate Saturday shooting

A 12-year-old boy was shot about noon Saturday and Pine Bluff police believe a 14-year-old boy was responsible.

Police Lt. Bob Rawlinson said the victim, who was not identified because of his age, was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center where he was taken to surgery and his condition was listed as critical.

The suspect, who had not been located Saturday afternoon, also was not identified because of his age, and Rawlinson said no weapon had been recovered.

The shooting was reported in the 2100 block of East Harding Avenue and Rawlinson said when officers arrived, they found the 12-year-old with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

“It is undetermined if this was an accidental or intentional shooting at this time,” Rawlinson said in a press release.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Detective Division at 730-2090 and all calls will be kept confidential.
