An investigation into a reported beating in April resulted in the arrest of a Pine Bluff man Wednesday who allegedly struck the victim with a board.
Jerry Pryor, 47, allegedly hit Clifton Singleton in the head with a two-by-four, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Thursday for Pryor.
Kizer said police were sent to 2700 Port Road on April 23 in response to a reported armed disturbance and when they arrived, found Singleton with a laceration to the head.
Three witnesses reportedly saw the incident, Kizer said, adding that Pryor has several prior felony convictions and multiple failures to appear.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $50,000 bond for Pryor after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with second-degree battery.
Kearney also ordered Pryor to have no contact with Singleton and to come back to court July 6.
