An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the Bank of Star City branch on East Harding Avenue on Monday afternoon and police are asking for help in locating the person responsible.

Capt. Greg Shapiro said the unknown black male walked into the bank at 2:43 p.m. and presented a note implying he was armed. The man took the cash and left the scene in a black four-door car, possibly a Toyota or Mazda.

Shapiro said the man appeared to be in his mid 20s to mid-30s, about 5-feet, 10-inches tall and about 185 pounds. The man was wearing a distinctive white shirt, black pants, white shoes and a white hat.

“We confidently believe that someone will recognize the suspect, particularly after seeing that unique shirt, and hopefully, the car he fled in,” Shapiro said a press release, adding that the FBI is also assisting in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police Detective Division at 730-2090. All calls will be kept confidential and a reward is available for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.
