The Pine Bluff School District Board of Directors approved the finalized employment contract for interim district superintendent Linda Watson at a special called meeting Monday evening.
“I move that we approve the superintendent’s final contract dated July 2, 2012,” board vice president Donna Barnes said.
The board approved a one-year contract for the 2012-2013 school year during its June 26 regular monthly meeting that will pay Watson $150,000. In addition, the board approved a pro-rated payment from the time of Watson’s employment with the school district June 4 until the end of the 2011-2012 school year June 30.
The pro-rated pay was set at $632.91 per day for a total of $16,455.66.
In other business the board approved the hiring of Jerry Bell as the principal of Jack Robey Junior High School and of Kimberly West as the principal of W.T. Cheney Elementary School, both effective July 9.
The board approved the hiring of certified personnel Roderick Stinson as physical education teacher and coach at Southeast Middle School, effective July 19, replacing Jason Bolick, who resigned.
The board accepted the resignations of certified personnel Greg Easter, head baseball coach and health teacher at Pine Bluff High School, effective June 28; and Vivian Evans, second grade teacher at 34th Elementary School, effective June 28.
The board approved the transfers of Linda Cokes from confidential secretary to the superintendent to confidential secretary of the gifted and talented program, effective July 2, replacing Cathy Mullen, who resigned; and Tamela Garth from confidential secretary for curriculum, instruction and professional development to administrative assistant to the superintendent effective July 2, replacing Cokes.
The board approved a bid of $59,134 submitted by Roberts Plumbing Inc. to repair the grease trap at Pine Bluff High School.
“Seth Wynn [director of auxiliary services] took bids and chose Roberts Plumbing as the low bidder,” Watson said.
